The Big Switch-On 2012
As is now usual, in 2012, there was a torchlight procession
followed by carols at the Market Hall
and the ceremonial "throwing of the switch".
In 2012 we were delighted that
Their Royal Highnesses The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall
came into town to do us the honour of switching on the lights,
assisted by competition-winning children from St Mary’s Primary and Sir William Romney’s Schools
Afterwards they met lots of people from the town’s various community organisations and societies and
Tetbury’s shopkeepers and went “walkabout”, greeted by the large crowds who had braved the cold weather.
After the switch-on, music in the Market Place and under the Market Hall, with something of a festive market under the Market Hall and local shops and businesses staying open late, offered seasonal hospitality to all.
We hope everyone had a good time, despite the cold weather and unusually large crowds.
If you were here, we hope that some of the pictures here will bring back fond memories.
